type='text'>The Wise Old Sages

Copyright Dhiraj Joshi-written during the warm days of Summers 2003

One old sage hath uttered,
In pre-historic times;
That men would find their women,
Only when great God designs.

And behold this sayin,
Runs true till very date;
Some find them when they're only boys,
While others have to wait.

Some meet their girl in school, oh boy,
Some meet when undergrads;
While still those unlucky people,
Have to wait till they are grads.

Some find them all sweet and cute,
Some find them sauve and smart;
Graceful girls with charming smiles,
That would steal each mortal heart.

Another sage hath wondered,
Why women must be wed;
The answer's small, as without them,
All men would be dead.

Men would burn their food, of course,
And litter their tiny lives;
All world would seem so sad and still,
If men did'nt have wives.

And of course to look at the story,
From a woman's point of view;
Wonder why she needs to wed,
A man so kind and true.

A wise sage hath thus explained,
When she's old and by the cane;
Her man would seat her by the fire,
And walk down memory lane.

They would talk of them when they were young,
And how their love matured;
Of all the happy times they spent,
All the pains they endured.

About that precious moment,
When first came home a new life;
"Our handsome son looks like his dad",
The man would boast to his wife.

And then, the man so full of sleep,
To his girl now old and grey;
Will point to their pretty grandchild,
And to the God they would pray.

To the God they would pray,
That he gave them wisdom to wed;
The world's so beautiful now,
With lives that they have bred.
The Ghosts

Copyright Dhiraj Joshi-written during Nov. 2006.

In a small and sleepy village,
In eighteen hundred and three;
Lived a family of spirits,
Atop a crooked tree.

They sang and danced and partied,
No trace of pain, no fear;
They knew no greed, no envy,
They were humble and sincere.

They fed on air and water,
Could disapper at will;
Celebrated their freedom,
With kindness and goodwill.

The village folks, they dreaded,
The crooked tree, so old;
"It's occupied by phantoms!!",
Their forefathers had told.

"They are deathly white and ugly,
On flesh and blood they live;
Beware the wretched creatures,
No human they forgive."

For years had co-existed,
two different forms of life;
At peace the ghosts, the humans
engaged in worldly strife.

Till an unexpected morning,
When the earth rolled and rocked;
There was panic and disorder,
Were humans ghastly shocked.

And when the quake subsided,
Was a conference convened;
"The Gods have leashed their fury,
Have our worships demeaned?"

"Oh brothers, lend me a moment",
The village priest explained;
"Tis the ghosts who caused the havoc,
Evil powers have they gained".

"To appease the Gods, our saviours,
Would a ritual fulfill;
The crooked tree be rooted,
And thrown off the hill".

"Yes, let us chop the devils,
Destroy their home, so vile";
"Beware!!" a scholar uttered,
"Spirits are full of guile!!".

"To catch the villains unguarded,
be the fiercest daggers drawn!;
The night, we pray and brandish,
Slay the devils sharp at dawn."

"So be it, we hail Almighty,
May our people live and breed;
Send the devils to perdition,
Long live our human creed!!."

At dawn, the slayers gathered,
with swords and jagged knives;
The crooked tree, they raided,
"Ensure, no ghost survives!!"

Barbaric was the action,
fanatic wows of zeal;
They ripped the tree, so rigid,
with brutal blows of steel.

The ghosts, quiet and stoic,
woken to death and pain;
Fled down the hill, to the valley,
in shock, yet no complains.

Slain several lay their brothers,
in a bout of rage and hate;
Yet no offensive action,
did once they contemplate.

In the quiet and lonely valley,
they found a home, anew;
The slow and rythemic water,
of the stream, the sky so blue.

While the Godforsaken country,
where humans made their living;
Consumed with greed and haunted,
was their past unforgiving?

Till the day, oh save Almighty,
when in kingdom of man;
Grew hatred to such limit,
a civil war began.

Men, women, children captive,
in hundreds, thousands dead;
Were houses burnt in envy,
the streets were painted red.

Did stray one dying soldier,
to the vale down the hill;
in the generous bode of the phantoms,
the air was quiet and still.

"Water, water" he whispered,
and staggered to the creek,
then dropped to ground, the fighter,
lay thirsty, spent and weak.

One wandering spirit spotted,
the human lying still;
He called upon his brethrens,
their ritual to fulfill.

In a circle, all united,
with faith transcending death;
Prayed for the man's living,
till he got back his breath.

Into air, the spirits vanished,
before the man could realize;
His saviour angels in hiding,
and humans ghosts in guise.
Be-Genied

"Oh Genie, My Genie" - A Ballad
Copyright Dhiraj Joshi- written during the cold days of Dec-2004 and Jan-2005 to cheer up!!!!

One cold and smoky morning,
I hit upon a lamp;
Whooshh!, a genie popped,
From the metal, so cold and damp.

"A million thanks, my Aakah,
you freed my soul from hell;
My cold and oily spirit did,
in lamp, for ages, dwell".

"Aakah, I was a captive,
Saw a thousand years unfold;
I was red and young and hearty then,
Now I am gray and old".

"And yet, I am full of restless might,
I'll strech my sinew and arm;
I'll take a breath of wonder,
Then behold my magical charm".

"Order me, my Aakah",
The genie was red and blue;
"Can fly you to the shining stars,
And swim the oceans through".

As I stood there, cold and rigid,
Genie donned his dancing shoes;
To the desert songs of Arabia,
Danced away his lampy blues.

And ho, all of a sudden, it dawned,
"Hey genie", I uttered with grace;
"I don't desire the moon and stars,
No riches, nor women's embrace".

"Oh ye' I've always thought of times,
When kings led their lives;
With knights and gold and silver,
And oh, so many wives".

"And yeah, old times were simple,
Men, women walked happy and free;
Wisdom and justice had their way,
The children played in glee".

"So take me to the times, so old,
To the world, years ago";
"Amin!!", the spirit whispered,
"My Aakah, there you go!".

Behold! in a little moment,
I was in ancient times;
The sounds of horse and chariot,
And the temple bells' chimes.

In a distance, stood the palace,
The kings' and queens' den;
With gardens and fountains galore,
Guarded by hundred men.

My eyes, blinded by the shean,
The palace was of gold;
The corridors of silver,
exuded royalness, bold.

Then suddenly, I was grounded,
Handcuffed, bound and gagged;
"He smells like a nosy alien",
The fat guard bragged.

Through the busy street, they pushed me,
"In peace, I come", I wailed;
"King choses your fate, oh alien",
My face dropped and paled.

"Till then, you live in the dungeons,
We'll feed you well and nice;
In court, if the king condemns you,
By God, you'll pay the price".

"The price comes in pieces",
"First, you fight the royal bull;
If you win, you may mary the princess,
If you lose, our swords we pull".

"If you lose, we cut you to pieces,
And feast the birds of prey;
So alien, if you have your God,
All night, you must pray".

I cursed my luck and shivered,
The dungeon was dark and cold;
Prisoners dying in their cells,
Men, women, young and old.

The king's court was crowded,
I was met with icy looks;
Elites loyal to the throne,
Abided by the books.

Blared trumpets, guards shouted,
"Jahanpanah arrives!!!";
Flowers were strewn at his feet,
Next came his daughter and wives.

"Hey alien, explain your business!",
The king was full of scorn;
"You were lurking in my kingdom,
Strange apparel, you have worn".

"O king, I come from the future,
From a thousand years away";
The court roared with laughter,
With the bull, my fate lay.

The court moved to the open,
The bull stood in good sted;
A red cloth, they gave me,
He was rounded and well fed.

The animal sighed and snorted,
His fun had just begun;
With an ugly glare, he eyed me,
And then began to run.

"Oh genie! genie!, help me!,
Save me from this beast;
The bull will surely maul me,
And the birds await my feast".

"The ruler is a tirant,
human rights!, no one cares;
They all live in King's dread,
Defy him, no one dares".

"Carry me to the future",
The bull was now too close;
Then the genie waved, "My aakah,
"Here's the wish, you just chose".

"I'm flying you to the future,
But akaah, I must say;
The future aint no better,
But MAY YOU HAVE YOUR WAY!!".

"True, I can grant your wishes,
Wishes, but only three;
I'll linger for another,
Then I'll pack my bags and flee".

"I'll flee to the sandy beaches,
Watch the sea, so blue;
Get drunk and dance and party,
And marry a girl, so true".

And before I could utter,
I stood on "34th STREET";
New York in YEAR 3000,
Looked awesome and so neat.

Transported to the future,
A thousand years, too far;
Robots walking in rythm,
Talking, driving a car.

Buildings with a thousand storeys,
Cars running at breakneck speed;
I looked around in wonder,
But saw none of my creed.

A slimy machine whispered,
In my ear, "Hey human bait!";
"We've killed all your brothers,
Now you await their fate.

You're thrown in liquid Nitrogen,
You'll lose your flesh and bone;
Your DNA will be taken;
To form a robot clone".

In a second, the scene shifted,
"DEATH CHAMBER", the sign read;
"Genie genie!, come rescue,
Hurry, or I am dead!".

"They'll put me in Nitrogen,
And torture my every cell;
Take me to the PRESENT,
The good world where I dwell".

"Tis your last wish, my aakah,
Next one, I'll decline;
Here!, you're back to your PRESENT,
And I'm off to WOMEN AND WINE!!!".

So folks, that ends my story,
My journey across time;
The genie is high and merry!!,
This line is just to rhyme!!!!!!.
Electron Re-Volt

copyright Dhiraj Joshi - <re><re><re>written during April-May 2005....

</re></re></re><re><re><re>One day, it thus transpired,
in a lonesome molecule;
An electron got tired,
of protons' ridicule.

While poor electrons tasked,
with never a sigh or groan;
the lazy protons basked,
in the quiet nuclear zone.

The electrons' circular motion,
was periodic in time;
Their unparalleled devotion,
had earned them, not a dime.

The nasty protons scorned,
"we are positive, you nuts";
The weary electrons warned,
"One day, we'll kick your butts".

So on this fateful morning,
this electron made a plan;
Without a word or warning,
he called upon his clan.

"Yo brathas", he lambasted,
"We're NEGATIVE, aweriight;
The positive lazy bastards!!!!,
Let's show 'em awl our might!!".

The Electron High Commission,
passed the mutiny bill;
"We'll bring about a fission;
nuclear energy, we'll spill!!

After the nuclear rupture,
The positives will flee;
The nucleus, we'll capture,
and spend our days in glee."

Though, one serious point,
unsolved, still remained,
A neutron, to appoint,
faithful and well trained.

Neutrons, particles passive,
were "NEUTRAL", of course,
But their impact was massive,
they struck with mighty force.

An electron had a friend,
in the neutron family;
His chum did condescend,
but snapped ANGRILY!!!!

"Fission is not a joke,
Do you idiots comprehend!!;
"The demons, you'll provoke,
your existence will end."

"Firm and united, oh pal,
Revolt, we declare!!;
High and strong in morale,
consequence, we don't care."

So this neutron was hired,
to complete the run;
Momentum, it acquired,
and then began the fun.

Thus struck the particle, quantum,
the home of lazy drones;
The majestic nucleur sanctum,
to smithereens, was blown.

The molecule, closely-knitted,
broke into atoms, twin;
Gamma rays were emitted,
and three neutrons, from within.

The electrons watched the fission,
and the by-products evolve;
Successful was their mission,
now they would'nt revolve!!.

Together they would cluster,
to form the nucleus, grand;
All energy, they will muster,
they'll work hand in hand.

But one important fact,
they did'nt consider, quite;
Two negatives dont attract,
they repel with all their might!!!

The repulsive force grew,
inversely with separation;
The electrons, it blew,
away with acceleration.

There was a huge commotion,
thrown away to atoms twin;
In loathsome circular motion.
once again, began to spin.

To this day, poor electrons,
move in circular trajectory;
Whereas the lazy protons,
spend their lives in glee.

The nasty protons scorn,
"we are positive, you nuts";
The weary electrons warn,
"One day, we'll kick your butts".
</re></re></re><div
